Why Have Martins?

They say a single purple martin can eat 2000 mosquitoes a day! Well, this was once thought to be true.
If you really want some good reasons, check these:

1. They have a beautiful song and a graceful flight. Martin landlords can sit outside for hours just watching and listening. Which is just what the martins like.
2. Purple martins clearly enjoy being around people.
3. Nearly all martins are dependent upon humans for shelter.
